Hi kids! Patty Simcox here! Just kidding, it's Jane - I fooled you!
Last week, my year group put on our production of 'Grease' in school for three nights. It's such a coincidence as there's been a revival of the musical's popularity with 'Grease: Live' recently. I was lucky to play the hilariously fun part of Patty Simcox, the annoying cheerleader. I love acting, and it was amazing to be involved in such a brilliant musical with amazing dances and songs. Our year worked really hard since before Christmas, and I think we performed great during the week. However, one of my absolute favourite aspects of doing 'Grease' was wearing fifties costumes and, of course, stage make up!
First, I moisturised my skin and applied my Flormar Illuminating Primer Base. We all shared these Max Factor Pan Sticks (even the guys had to wear it) and wore it to prevent our faces from looking too white from the lights on stage. It's a super thick foundation - a pain to take off before bed. I fixed up my imperfections with my NYX Photogenic Concealer (not pictured), and blended it in with the foundation. By the way, I was wearing tan as well - that explains why I looked like I was on holiday! I had my Benefit Benetint, but I also used some Essence blush (not pictured) that we were all sharing, for rosy cheeks - again with the stage lights, a flush of colour is important. I set the make up with my Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder before doing my eyebrows.
I applied my Eylure Brow Pencil, and smoothed it out with the mascara brush end. Then, after highlighting my brows with Benefit High Brow, I moved on to the eyes. Everyday eye looks were not hugely dramatic in the fifties as the lips were bold enough. So, the girls were told to do use a pale pink shade all over the lid, and blend a darker brown into the crease. We had to brighten up the eyes with a bit of white in the inner corner too. For the eyeshadow I used my trusty Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. For the fifties flick, my NYX The Curve Liner came in handy. I applied my Urban Decay Perversion Mascara, and the only thing left to do was the lips.
I brought two red lipsticks with me each night - my Natural Collection Moisture Shine one in 'Crimson' and my new-ish Oriflame Colour Unlimited Matte lipstick in 'Red Passion'. At first I used both to create the red lip, but ended up just mainly using 'Red Passion' on its own. The Oriflame lipstick stayed on for the whole show every night - it didn't budge! I didn't have to re-apply at all. If I had to recommend only one product from this Face of The Day, it'd have to be the Oriflame Colour Unlimited Matte Lipstick, and I'd especially suggest it if you're looking for long lasting colour.
Before heading out to sing and dance, I spritzed on my new Elf Makeup Mist & Set spray to make sure my face won't slide off. After that, I was ready to be Patty Simcox! :D
I miss performing in 'Grease' with my classmates so much. It was such a fun experience I'll never forget. I'm so happy I got a chance to act on my school stage (I must say, wearing a mic was one of the highlights - that doesn't happen to me often). I'll leave you with a collage of some of my favourite photos from the musical week, and a cheesy goodbye.
A wop ba bu lu bop? A wop bam boo!
I'm not sorry.
Do you like 'Grease'? Did you watch 'Grease: Live'? What do you think of this FOTD?
