From Maybelline:

I had a very pleasurable Easter holidays (although I was horribly sick on Thursday; I missed #InsideOut)! I'm back in school now, but guess what's coming up? No, you guessed wrong, hah. It's my 14th birthday this Saturday! Smiley face. Not only will I be celebrating 14 crazy years of Jane but I will be heading over to London with my dad and sister for the bank holiday weekend. I will definitely be taking photos and all that jazz over there; look out for a special post!
The only down thing about today's news is that I have exams at the end of May. That means not that much blogging here on Dorky, Fizzy and Quirky Stuff. Boo! Don't fret, June will be
a hectic month.
Before I go, have any of you seen "The Amazing Spider-Man 2"? AAAAH it was astounding.

Spring Trends OOTD | A Guest Post

Hey y’all! My name is Juliana Grace and I am from the blog julianagraceblogspace.blogspot.com! I hear Jane has got some pretty awesome readers so I thought I would come join the party by sharing with y’all one of my favorite spring trends. I am from the sunshine state of Florida so this outfit is perfect for the beautiful weather right now! When I heard that black and white was going to be a spring trend I wasn’t too excited as I always look forward to the pastels and bright colors of spring. However, I have come to love it because it is very classy and both colors make you look more tan! This specific outfit is great because it isn’t too dressy or too casual, but a perfect middle.

What's in my Handbag?

I posted a picture on Instagram of things I have in my handbag not so long ago, and I felt like I should show you all here! I don't always have these goodies in my bag (like the Kindle, magazine and headphones) by the way. I sometimes do though to fill up my big Kipling handbag! I got this beauty you can see above for my 13th birthday last year and it's gorgeous and very convenient. So let's get into this!

In the biggest section:
My Phone (Xperia P) - ringing and texting is quite essential in this generation
My iPod (5th Generation) - I use this for music, taking photos and playing games
when out and about
Headphones - need I explain?
Kindle + Magazine - for whenever I need a break
Purse - cash and gift cards are necessary for shopping trips

In one of the small pockets:
Lip-gloss
Mascara
Roll on perfume
Hairbrush/Mirror

What's in your handbag/purse?

Dorkiness, Fizziness and Quirkiness #4: Easter Sunday | OOTD + Photos

I hope you all had a lovely Easter yesterday!
I didn't do any big celebrations with my family; the most we did was leave the house to go to Mass.  I ate two of my Easter eggs (the third one is being gobbled up now) which is a load of chocolate but is the usual for this festive Sunday. It was the end of Lent, and I gave up chocolate and sweets, so I haven't had this much junk in forty days! It tasted so nice.
My granny and auntie came to us for dinner which was a lovely roast. I chilled for the day and we watched "Anchor-man 2" in the evening. It was very random and funny (as expected for the sequel) and was just as good as the first.

I did dress-up quite a bit for the occasion, even though it was a very relaxing day. I looked appropriate for Mass anyway. My favourite piece of this outfit is the cardigan. I've had it for years but I still wear it; a great buy! It gives a pop of colour to this outfit without it being over the top, and is suitable for spring.

Pink shimmery shadow with eyeliner, rosy cheeks and neutral lips.

Hairband: Penneys/Primark
Necklace: Gift (unknown)
Cardigan: Abercrombie & Fitch
Lace Top: Abercrombie & Fitch
Jeans: American Eagle
Boots: UGG Australia

I am really enjoying my Easter holidays so far. I played hockey, went shopping (Haul Soon!) and I danced at a social on Friday night. Busy, busy, busy!

How was your Easter Sunday?

Nails of the Moment | Pretty Pastels

My sister actually bought this nail polish recently as she has gone off on a trip to Africa and wanted to paint her nails a nice colour before she went. I have seen lots of adverts on Rita Ora's new collection with Rimmel, so I was very curious when I saw she got one from it. I asked her if I could use the light blue polish in 'Breakfast in Bed' while she was away, and she kindly said yes. It is a very intriguing bright colour that I had never experimented with before; very suitable for the upcoming spring season!

I wanted to add a twist to my nail look by adding in an accent colour; this hot pink nail polish by Claire's. I think the colours complement each other quite well, but maybe I should have gone for a more bright pink to match the eye-catching blue. I feel like this pink almost blends in with my skin tone.

What do you think of my spring nail look?

I am not Dauntless, Abnegation, Candor, Amity or Erudite. I am DIVERGENT

Hey fizzy, quirky dorks!

 "Divergent".
You've heard and seen it everywhere.
On your TV an advert for it pops up. On Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram there's all kinds of hashtags. You've seen it on the bus. And most of all; your friend is obsessed.

And you're thinking: 'Not another Hunger Games'.

You mustn't be a reader.

"Divergent" is a series of three books (the second and third being named "Insurgent" and "Allegiant")written by author Veronica Roth. It is based on a dystopian world in future Chicago, after a war, where society is split into five factions based on virtues as seen above. When a citizen is sixteen they must choose which faction they know they belong to, and may leave the faction they have grown up in with their family. Beatrice Prior is from Abnegation and now awaits her big decision. When she takes the test, she discovers she is Divergent, and there is a threat to all of her kind.

And that's a teeny tiny eighth of the story, in my opinion.

An adventure full of knives, trains and looooove, "Divergent", the first book, was very recently released as a huge franchise film starring Shailene Woodley as 'Tris' Prior. Others include Theo James as Four (:D), Kate Winslet as Jeanine Matthews and Ansel Elgort as Caleb.

Firstly, but most importantly, the book is INCREDIBLE.
I may say this about almost every single novel I have read, but let's just go with this...

I read it in on my Kindle, and it honestly wasn't what I expected at all. I don't mean the storyline; that was easy to catch on to. It was Veronica's writing style and characterisation skill that mesmerised me. She captured Tris' persona exceptionally and made me love Four (it's impossible not to). And also the world of "Divergent" felt very realistic to me, as I imagined myself in Tris' situation; would I pick Abengation? Dauntless? Candor? Erudite? Amity?". The story teaches us that it is our power to decide where we belong in life.

The movie, on the other hand, I saw with two friends on Sunday; I just couldn't go though it's opening weekend in Ireland without seeing the film. Normally, as a reader, you have high expectations for an adaptation, and without doubt I did. Although I always think I am, I'm never prepared for scenes to be cut or characters to be abandoned (URIAH).

All that aside, I loved it (x10, comment below if you see what I did there).

But it's not NEAR half as good as the novel.
And that's what everyone says.
*LESSON OF THE (EVERY)DAY: BOOKS ARE BETTER*
But it was still a remarkably, breath-taking motion picture.

I think it was very well cast and the set and special effects were impressive. After the film, I felt like jumping (off a train, of course), running, throwing knives (at a target, hah, I'd fail), and finding out what my fear landscape would be. I did have these thoughts after the book, but in the movie, the action and speed of the scenes causes me to want to do what the characters are doing (unless it's something really bad). I wish I had the same kind of reaction from my imagination as I read.

Also, THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN FOUR AND TRIS!!! No other words needed.

I can never think of flaws of a film or book as I'm writing, by the way. People do have certain opinions on these and that's obviously fine. My certain perspective on "Divergent" is what I believe in, not you, unless you agree.

I am currently reading "Insurgent" in the series, and I hope to finish it and "Allegiant"
over the Easter Holidays.

That reminds me.

IT'S THE EASTER HOLIDAYS :D
I have two weeks off school and a lot I wish to do (as I say all the time). So following that thought, expect TONS of posts, and I promise to post lots and lots.

I hope you enjoyed my impressions on "Divergent".
Leave your thoughts on the novel and film below!

Blog to you next time,

For Now, Jane xox
